Curriculum Intent Statement

'Respected and nurtured for uniqueness'

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." — 1 Timothy 4:12

At Ashleworth C of E Primary School, we believe every child is a gift—unique, capable, and full of promise. Rooted in our Christian values and ethos, we nurture a culture where differences are celebrated, individuality is honoured, and every member of our school family feels seen, heard, and valued.

Our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, ignite ambition, and equip children with the skills and confidence they need to thrive—both now and in the future. It is purposeful, inclusive, and empowering, offering meaningful learning experiences that connect to real life and encourage children to discover their strengths, passions, and potential.

We build on each child’s prior learning, providing rich, hands-on opportunities that foster resilience, collaboration, and critical thinking. High expectations underpin every aspect of teaching and learning—from the mastery of core skills to the development of character and creativity. Carefully chosen trips and visitors bring learning to life, creating memorable moments and broadening horizons.

Subject Leaders play a vital role in shaping and refining our curriculum through ongoing monitoring, reflection, and innovation. This ensures progression, coherence, and excellence across all areas of learning.

Our approach is responsive and compassionate. Children who need additional support receive tailored interventions that help them grow at their own pace, in ways that suit their individual learning styles. Those who are ready for greater challenge are stretched and encouraged to deepen their understanding and extend their skills.

By the time children leave Ashleworth, they do so with a deep sense of belonging, a strong moral compass, and the confidence to make thoughtful decisions, reflect on their learning, and embrace the world as lifelong learners.
